Obituary: Earl M. Grimes

Sept. 13, 1933-March 10, 2024

Earl Grimes, 90, passed away at his home on Grand Island (since 1969) surrounded by loving family, friends and neighbors.

A beloved husband, supportive father, and sage grandfather, Earl was a fitness and cycling enthusiast, and a talented vocalist. He served in the U.S. Air Force for four years, graduated from Purdue University with a BS in mechanical engineering, and retired from Keller Technology in Kenmore in 1999.

Earl was predeceased by his wife of 68 years, Janet R. Grimes (Gabel). He is survived by his children: Ronald (Kathleen Denny) of Atlanta, Alan Max (Elizabeth Curry) of Huntington Beach, California, Gail Dorsey of Grand Island, Leslie Martin of Niagara Falls, and Christina Grimes (Stacy Kenworthy) of Atlanta. Earl was blessed with six loving grandchildren: Melissa Martin and David Martin of Niagara Falls, Zachary Grimes (Victoria) of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, Jason Grimes of Washington, D.C., and Claire Grimes and Max Grimes of Huntington Beach; and great-grandchildren: Emma Martin of Niagara Falls, Thomas Hartman of Huntington Beach, and Oliver, Waylon and Grayson Grimes of Santa Rosa Beach. Earl was predeceased by his parents, Glenn and Earliana (Bartle) of Cassadaga.
