Today's national average price for a gallon of gasoline is $2.56, no change since last week. One year ago, the price was $2.85. The New York state average is $2.72 - down 2 cents from last week. A year ago, the state average was $3.
Niagara University cuts ribbon on site at Vaughan, Ontario

Niagara University formally unveiled its new location in Vaughan, Ontario, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Sunday. The site, in the Vaughan Metropolitan Center, is also the first university to be established in the City of Vaughan and York region. It supports Niagara University's commitment to becoming the premier binational university within the Province of Ontario.

The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra will open its 2019-20 season with a toast to BPO musicians and JoAnn Falletta, who takes the podium for her 20th year as music director. All ticket-holding patrons are invited to the champagne toast, which will take place in the Mary Seaton Room of Kleinhans Music Hall just prior to the 8 p.m. main stage concert, titled "Favorites & Friends: A Celebration of 20 Years." Pre-concert music will be provided in the Mary Seaton Room by the Buffalo Philharmonic Chorus, under the direction of Adam Luebke.

Understandably, a lot of people can't help by adopting an animal, but the SPCA is hoping that community businesses and individuals would like to be the second best thing: the force behind finding each of these pets a home. It's called "Sponsor a Cage."

The talk of the residents in Town of Niagara on Friday was of a press release posted on the town's Facebook page. According to the release, the Electric Lights Parade is taking a year off from marching on Military Road. It will continue in 2020.
