NYPA releases report on learnings from European wind projects aimed to guide US offshore wind development

Earlier this week, the New York Power Authority, shared key learnings from a study of European offshore wind transmission models set to help guide New York state as it moves toward its 9 gigawatt (GW) offshore wind goal by 2035, and inform regional and national offshore wind development.

GM Lockport Operations secures new business

General Motors Co. GMCH Lockport Operations announced it has secured new business to supply several powertrain thermal components for an "important" future General Motors high-volume vehicle. A press release stated, "The additional work strengthens Lockport's portfolio of precision components that includes radiators, condensers, heater cores and oil coolers."

Erie County Fair opens

The 180th Erie County Fair will officially open to the general public at noon on Wednesday. There will be a short ceremony beginning at 11:40 a.m. at the historic McKinley Parkway gate. The program will also include remarks by venue officials, introduction of the 2019 "Ultimate Fairgoer," and a flurry of fireworks at noon. The national anthem will be performed by the Erie County Fair Marching Band.
$100,000 grant awarded to Family Promise of Western New York

Family Promise of Western New York, an emergency shelter for families experiencing homelessness, has been awarded $100,000 from the New York State Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance's Homeless Housing and Assistance Program. The award completes a $200,000 capital campaign the organization has been fundraising over the past year for critical upgrades to its emergency shelter for families.

This year's honorees are Georgia Robinson Bradberry, Jane Schroeder, Don King and Laurie Davis (posthumously). Jasiah Jackson will be honored with the inaugural GenNext Award, which was established to recognize outstanding youth age 18 and under for exemplary service to the community.
