The New York State Department of Taxation and Finance announced School Tax Relief (STAR) credit recipients can now enroll to have their STAR credit payments direct deposited into their bank accounts. New York's STAR program provides property tax relief to eligible homeowners.

Gov. Kathy Hochul announced $127 million to police departments and sheriffs' offices outside of New York City for new technology and equipment to prevent and solve crimes and improve public safety. The governor secured additional funding in the FY 2025 enacted budget to fund applications made by 378 law enforcement agencies that responded to the state's application for funding last fall.

Acting Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane announced 21-year-old Michael L. Stasiuk of Lancaster pleaded guilty yesterday afternoon before Lancaster Town Court Justice David S. Stabler to one count of criminal mischief in the fourth degree and one count of assault in the third degree (class "A" misdemeanors). He was sentenced to three years of probation and ordered to continue participation in mental health treatment.
