At the Grand Island Memorial Library, approximately 300 voters come in Tuesday to cast ballots. Voter turnout was steady all day, unlike the presidential primary, when approximately 50 people came to vote. People who live in two election districts vote at the library. The districts were recently renumbered, although no district boundaries were changed.
New York State Sen. Tim Kennedy is the unofficial winner. He is poised to claim the 26th U.S. Congressional District seat vacated by Brian Higgins earlier this year. Kennedy, a Democrat, was challenged by Republican Town of West Seneca Supervisor Gary Dickson.
