Shea's Performing Arts Center is proud to announce the 2024-25 Frey Electric Season at Shea's 710 Theatre. On Tuesday, Tops Friendly Markets formally dedicated the 5/14 Tops Honor Space, which the company established to honor the victims of the racially motivated attack that occurred two years ago at its Jefferson Avenue location in Buffalo. The New York State Department of Taxation and Finance announced School Tax Relief (STAR) credit recipients can now enroll to have their STAR credit payments direct deposited into their bank accounts. New York's STAR program provides property tax relief to eligible homeowners.

At the Grand Island Memorial Library, approximately 300 voters come in Tuesday to cast ballots. Voter turnout was steady all day, unlike the presidential primary, when approximately 50 people came to vote. People who live in two election districts vote at the library. The districts were recently renumbered, although no district boundaries were changed.

Members of the Lewiston Town Board voted by a 3-2 margin Monday evening to endorse Local Law No. 2 of 2024. The board's action, which followed plenty of debate, now essentially prohibits the operation of short-term/transient rentals. The decision comes off a contentious March 11 public hearing on the issue, and comments both for and against short-term rentals operating in local neighborhoods.
